Maria Nieves

We were incredibly honored last December to have legendary dancer Maria Nieves give a 'charla' (talk about her life and career) for our tour.  At that time, she hadn't been dancing due to an injury.  At the end of the talk, she gave a short demo, and found that she felt much better dancing than expected.  Since then, she's gone on to return to performing in milongas and on stage!

We are thrilled to have her return to teach a class for the December 2023 tour.  You can read more about Maria Nieves on wikipedia.

If you haven't watched it yet, the film "Our Last Tango," a documentary about Maria's difficult tango partnership with Juan Carlos Copes, is required watching before the tour.

Los Totis

Los Totis (Virginia Gómez & Christian Márquez) are renowned for their strength, maturity and defined tango style.  They have been working together since 1997, participating in many important national and international shows, directed by prominent dancers and choreographers.

Since 2002, they have been traveling to different cities in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the United States, to give workshops and participate in tango festivals.  In 2006, they were invited to be the lead couple of the video clip ¨Diferente¨ by Gotan Project.

In Buenos Aires, they are invited to participate in the most important tango festivals such as CITA, Tango Salón Extremo, Argentina Tango Salón, and Mujercitas, among others.  They also travel to different cities in the country to transmit their knowledge to new generations of tango dancers.

They are regularly invited by the Government of Buenos Aires to serve on the jury of the Metropolitan Tango Championship and World Tango Championship.

Their dance is characterized by the precision and quality of their movements.  They are beloved for their elegance, musicality, and the way they distill and preserve the purest essence of tango.

Nito & Elba

Nito Garcia learned tango the old-fashioned way, watching his uncle and aunt dance on a packed-earth patio in the province of Buenos Aires more than half a century ago.  As a young man, he polished his skills in the dance halls of Buenos Aires in the 1950s, was a principal dancer with the orchestra of Osvaldo Pugliese, and later moved to Mar Del Plata, on the coast of Argentina, where he continued to perform and teach.

Nito & Elba met in 1973 and soon married and began dancing together.  Over the past 40 years, they have become one of the most highly respected and beloved tango couples worldwide, starring in events throughout Europe, Asia, and North and South America. Elegant and graceful, Nito & Elba continue to perform at the Esquina Carlos Gardel, one of the most highly famed tango shows in Buenos Aires, when they are not traveling.

Nito & Elba won the prestigious Lobo del Mar award in 1996 for their outstanding contribution to the arts and were presented with the "Person of the City" award in Mar del Plata, Argentina for 1997. Nito & Elba have been invited to teach at the CITA Festival in Buenos Aires every year and are highly in demand as private coaches for professional couples in Buenos Aires.

Bruno & Rocio

Bruno Tombari

I’m Bruno Tombari, a native of the Villa Ortúzar neighborhood in the City of Buenos Aires.

Tango arrived into my life 17 years ago, thanks to my father. Before that, I devoted myself martial arts.

First, I became a student of tango, then a milonguero, and finally a dancer and teacher, and I consider it to be of vital importance to practice and evolve each of those four facets of my dance.  As tango is such a complex and fascinating language, one always discovers something new, and it’s for that reason that I like to define tango as “the art of embraced walking.”

I had the good fortune to be born in a family of artists, including pianists and opera singers.  Because of that, it was simply following family tradition to dedicate my life to art.  I found in tango a marvelous language, and also a vehicle for learning more about myself.  I have also been fortunate to discover the world and its inhabitants through the medium of the embrace.

Inés Muzzopappa is a Tango Argentino dancer and instructor. She started her path in tango when she was 14 years. In 2007, she won first prize in the World Tango Championship along with Dante Sanchez.  In that moment, she decided to became a professional tango dancer.

From then on, she started to teach and dance all over the world at the most renowned Tango Festivals and Tango events.

Inés and Corina have been teaching and performing together sporadically since 2015. Every time they organized something together, the encounter was powerful and enriching. So it was that in 2019, they decided it was a good idea to formalize their project as dance partners.
